DTC Minutes of Legal & Finance Meeting - 3rd July 2018

Minutes of the Meeting of the Legal & Finance Committee held on 3rd July 2018 at        

in the Council Office, Lady Street, Dulverton.

Election of Chairman: Mr Lewis was nominated as Chairman by Mrs Dubery. seconded by Mr Fleming. There were no other nominations. Mr Lewis was elected unanimously.

Present:Chairman:Mr Gerry Lewis, Cllrs: Mrs Christine Dubery and Mr Ian Fleming.

Apologies for absence and acceptance of any reasons offered: Mrs Ernest

Deferment of business for comments by the public: None

Declarations of Interest: None

Website Costs:

Cllr Lewis proposes that:

  1. The hosting of the website is moved at a cost of £3.99 per month (£48.00 per year) for the first year then £6.99 for subsequent months.
  2. A second domain is purchased.
  3. Software at a single payment of £95.40

RESOLVED: To recommend that the costs proposed above are approved: Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mrs Dubery and carried.

Sick Pay:

Cllr. Lewis proposed that a Sick Pay Policy is adopted, £6,000. That full pay is made for the first month; half pay for the second month for employees that have been in post for a determined period of time.

RESOLVED: Members agree that £6,000 is ring fenced to help cover sick pay for a period of six months sickness. Proposed by Mrs Dubery, seconded by Mr Lewis and carried.

The Policy & Procedure Committee will be requested to produce a Sickness Policy to be approved by full Council.


Matters to Report with permission of the Chairman:

Cllr Lewis asked members to consider the purchase of a new PC for the office at an anticipated cost of £600 to meet requirements and to upgrade the Clerks current commuter with a new disc drive.
